Ryan Art Advisory curated The Presence in Paint, an exhibition held at a private residence in La Jolla. This marked the advisory’s second presentation in an ongoing series of projects across Southern California. In support of Ryan Art Advisory’s mission, The Presence in Paint presented a diverse range of contemporary artists in a distinctive setting, offering new audiences across Southern California enhanced access and exposure.
The Presence in Paint featured sixteen contemporary artists — Merrick Adams, Caroline Denervaud, Kristen Diederich, Maja Dlugolecki, Ryan Dobrowski, Sophia Flood, Rema Ghuloum, Kristen Giorgi, Glenn Goldberg, Zoe Koke, Brian Lotti, Dashiell Manley, Hugo McCloud, Holly Osborne, Rebecca Partridge, and Tessa Greene O’Brien. These artists explore the evolving relationships between perception, memory, and the natural environment through various motifs and styles, including gestural abstraction, atmospheric landscapes, and imaginative figuration. The exhibition emphasized a cumulative focus on light, texture, and spatial exploration, illustrating how painting can reflect and reveal both internal states and external worlds. Through an array of bold gestures, shifting color palettes, and sublime execution, the artworks brought together for this exhibition celebrated a spectrum of voices, showcasing the endless potential of paint as a medium.
