For over a century, Hotel del Coronado has stood as the birthplace of the American beach vacation, a place where generations have gathered to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments. Following a landmark six-year revitalization, the resort’s cottages, villas, and guestrooms now seamlessly blend contemporary luxury with the hotel’s storied coastal heritage, preserving a beloved icon while ushering it beautifully into the present.

Engaged to develop both the public and guestroom art collections, Ryan Art Advisory created a program that plays a vital role in this renewed narrative, breathing fresh life into historic spaces through traditional subject matter reimagined with a modern sensibility. Working closely with design partners and a rigorous historic review committee, the collection balances reverence for the past with a spirit of thoughtful reinvention.

Elegant graphite floral studies by Margot Glass bring a refined quietude to the guestrooms, offering a contemporary interpretation of classic decorative motifs. Intricate botanical collages by Demming Harriman and intimate still lifes by Stanley Belen deepen this sense of reimagined heritage within the cottages, layering memory, craftsmanship, and quiet emotion.
